love winners

summer

we love a winner and congratulations to morris cockman manager at the fabulous 5 star rigbys guest house in hertford for being overall champion of the recently aired four in a bed programme. morris saw off stiff competition by entertaining the other b&b owners at paradise wildlife park where they had the opportunity to feed the big cats.

lussmanns fish & grill restaurants in st albans, harpenden and hertford have been named runners up in two categories of the 10th annual observer food monthly awards 2013. the independent brasserie group was selected 'best ethical restaurant' and 'best cheap eats' categories of the award representing readers' choices for ethical dining and great places for a meal under £15 around the country. many congratulations to andrei and the lussmann team.

half term activities

warner bros. studio tour london – from friday 13th to wednesday 25th february, a selection of animals will team up with their trainers to showcase their acting skills and take part in live training demonstrations.

a menagerie of owls, cats and a toad will return to the incredible sets they ‘acted’ on during production; led by head animal trainer julie tottman, who helped create the performances of more than 250 live creatures throughout all eight harry potter films.

visitors to the gryffindor common room set will find it occupied by a red persian cat that played hermione granger’s bandy-legged feline crookshanks. he will be joined by a maine coon cat that portrayed filch’s partner-in-crime mrs norris and the 14-year-old toad that played neville longbottom’s pet trevor.

the studio tour’s animal actors feature will run from friday 13th to wednesday 25th february and all additional activities are included in the standard ticket price.

fabulous facts

when edward 1's beloved wife queen eleanor died in 1290, he had her body taken 160 miles to westminster abbey, erecting a cross to mark the 12 places where the cortege rested. only three remain, including one at waltham cross.
